This environentally friendly technology will Prevent the formation of scale and Remove existing scale.

Most process water contains impurities. Mineral deposits from impurities build up on the interior surfaces of process water piping and on heat transfer surfaces. This is called scale. It reduces total water flow, decreasing machine efficiency and causing increased maintenance cost and downtime. Additionally, other solids and bacteria from many sources contribute to the impurity of process water.

Treating process water to reduce mineral impurities may be accomplished either by adding chemicals to offset the negative effects of impurities or by adding ions to impure particles, thereby prohibiting crystalline particle buildup.

Physical Water Treatment is Preferred

As population increases, clean water and healthy ecosystems become crucial to economic viabilities and mandate as close to zero discharge as possible.

The World Water Council predicted that between 1995 and 2025, U.S. residential water consumption will increase 100 percent, while industrial water use will increase by 33 percent.

As water costs increase and supplies dwindle, more and more industries are turning to high-tech water treatment systems that recycle and reuse water within plant production processes. Some of these systems include "closed loop" technology known as Zero Liquid Discharge (ZDL) that recycles all in-plant water streams and discharges none to the environment.

In recent years, advancements in filtration, liquid-solid separation, ionization, and importantly, the integration of these technologies into complete systems, have given industrial clients proven technical solutions for water reuse. ZDL and water reuse systems will become more common as the true costs and true availability of clean water are recognized.

Physical Water Treatment is Effective

The ionic field built up in a physical water treatment system focuses immediately and specifically on calcium and magnesium crystals which compose the greatest portion of impurities in most process water. These crystals are altered in shape by the ionic charge applied increasing their solubility and remain suspended in the water flow instead of forming layers of scale deposits on heat transfer surfaces. At blowdown, discharge, or filtration, the dissolved and suspended solids are removed from solution. Progressive's patented design eliminates any electrical stray current making it safe, reliable, and effective.

The Progressive Process Water Treatment System has three main components:

  • Descaler to remove and prevent scale
  • Filtration to remove suspended solids
  • Copper/Silver Ion disinfection to prevent algae and bacteria

These systems have enabled our customers to reduce discharge and water cost, recycle water, obtain discharge permits, purify water without the use of chemicals, increase production time, decrease maintenance time and adhere to EPA regulations.
